New games aren’t being delivered or am I just growing up??

21. September 2025/0 Comments/in blog-436 /by manfred

This is the stuff, friends… for some reason, new games with oh-so-cool graphics and a bunch of scenes don’t bring any pleasure. launched it, played for half an hour with a sour face and switched it off… boring, not interesting, of course beautiful, but somehow not right.
I didn’t catch such giants as the first Carmageddon, Fallout 1 and 2… I just didn’t have a computer. but I played XL 1 MP 1 red alert 2 sk1… and now I launched the first XL and heard the voice of the automatic system… So much win friends.
where did the old school spirit go?? drowned in money?
I was just now trying to remember recently released games that really deliver, one thing that came to mind was Bulletstorm with its madness, Borderlands and SK2.
maybe I just grew up? so why are the old people proud and max still giving heat? or is it just that the developers stopped being big kids and turned from artists into craftsmen?

Consoles, friends, that’s where all the evil comes from. And no, I’m not at all a rabid console hater, but still, every year this is the impression I get. Let’s take the last two action games as an example: Inversion and Spec Ops shooters, in principle, not bad, but actually for one time. They definitely lack something, but what you definitely feel is that they came to us from consoles.I don’t know how to describe this feeling, but you can always see whether the action has come to us from consoles or not, well, that’s all about action..

I’ll move on to strategies, but there’s absolutely nothing to talk about here. They are simply not released at all, the genre has died out and it is the genre of real-time strategies! It’s a complete total disaster, of course it’s fun at first, but it gets boring in the end. I’m just burning with the desire to rebuild my base, accumulate a lot of armies and sweep the enemy’s cards off my face, but there’s nothing like that. Last time I played the wonderful campaign of StarCraft II and that’s it.

There are no questions about RPGs yet, there are quite a lot of them, but they are somehow losing their uniqueness, the last time I played the kingdoms of Amalur and Mass Effect the third, but you know, it’s also like one time, not very addictive.

I just described the overall picture that is happening at the moment, it’s sad, of course, but I’m really looking forward to the fall, because really original games are coming out there

In some ways it’s ok, but in some ways it’s not ok. Although the statistics speak for themselves, the first Witcher completed it three times, the second one and can’t handle it anymore. Although I admit, I liked the first one better

It’s true! I don’t know, I https://overloadcasino.co.uk/login/ felt a real, witcher’s spirit! The story was linear, but unpredictable! Original combat… and… and… In general, I can hold holiwars on this topic for a long time)

Probably because the boys from high school told you that new games don’t bother and only the spirit of the old school lives in moss-covered mammoth poop. WITH:

What stupid stereotypes are these?? If you use the Internet as an aid to broaden your horizons, you will understand that the USA is not the most well-fed country on Earth. Many European countries will willingly compete with it.
And the reason why publishers began to do such tricks is that the average age of gamers is 35-40 years old. These are the same people who pay their money to relax after a working day. And it’s quite normal that adults don’t want to arrange yet another challenge for themselves, of which there are plenty in life.
If there were significantly more old gamers and each of them paid for the games, and did not download them for blanks, then, undoubtedly, the publishers would not have missed this.

pshel ven, a redneck who poses as an “ilita” and calls everyone else a redneck! I’m tired of people like you. sheer hypocrisy!
I’ve seen enough of this in sk2… “I play on europe, but all of you rash cattle don’t know how to play and are also rogues”
and you are one of the breed, I have an elite console, you bakers are all rednecks, thieves and rogues, and I am so cool and rich with a PS3 which is full of games.

For myself, I can identify only two reasons for such “displeasure” from modern games, which is becoming more and more common:

1) Much depends on exactly when and how many years ago a person first launched the legendary Doom, Fallout 1/2 or, as the author of the post mentioned, HL1. In young years, in general, everything is perceived much brighter, and one way or another, the emotions received from the “first” games are somewhat superior to the emotions from the current games. What’s more, I myself get more pleasure from playing, say, Full Throttle than from playing the recent Max Payne 3 (although it’s just an excellent representative of its genre), and all because in my “young years” I loved quests. The feeling of nostalgia – there’s probably no escape from it.

2) Nostalgia is nostalgia, but the banal feeling of oversaturation has not been canceled either. Each subsequent year in the industry is marked by a kind of gaming marathon, which provides the player with a huge selection of various projects, both really good and obscenely bad. And if everything that in such “marathons” falls on you to tirelessly consume, then the sensations will become very dull, regardless of the quality of the game. Perhaps this fact can be applied to many things in life :3

Well, in my opinion, at the moment the gaming industry is taking off like never before. Many interesting projects are being developed and released (there are also some bad ones :3), which seriously captivate you and make you wait for the continuation. So, personally, I love both old and new games.

By the way, I also wanted to say a few words about the indie sector. Why are many indie projects so much more popular and interesting than current games?? It seems to me that many developers working in large companies like Bayover, Obsidian, Arbor and.T.d simply exhausted themselves, they were exhausted. And indie developers, they are fresh, talented, they are full of many interesting ideas, but they are afraid to invest in them. Of course, it’s better to invest money in a simpler and more uncomplicated project and get at least some guarantee that this project will pay off, than to be left with nothing.
Therefore, the company needs to invite new people, I think so..

The Witcher 2 is also ok. Skyrim ok, Tribes Ascend ok, PlanetSide 2 promises to be cool, Dota 2 is just super.

Yes, I agree, this genre has somehow been forgotten, I certainly hope that it will come back, it’s not all the time to be content with Starcraft, Warcraft, Age of Empires, maybe somewhere in the back streets of the Earth a brilliant real-time strategy with excellent optimization, an exciting plot, unique gameplay, good graphics and a lot of interesting goodies is already being prepared :3
